Carlsbad CA– Community members who need to file a crime report can now do so on the City of Carlsbad website with an easy to use online program.
To report a crime online, the crime needs to meet the following criteria: It must have occurred in the Carlsbad city limits; there must be no suspect information and there must be no evidence.
If there is suspect information or evidence, the police department needs to send an officer to look at the crime scene, gather evidence or document suspect information.
The following crimes can be reported online:
- Vandalism
- Petty theft
- Hit and run auto collisions
- Harassing phone calls
- Lost property
Community members are not required to report crime online. It is an option. To request an officer respond and take a crime report, please call the police department at 760-931-2197. If it is an emergency, please call 911.
“Using the online crime reporting resource is a quick alternative for community members wanting to file certain simple crime reports like the ones listed above,” said Police Records Supervisor Delphine Fisk. “They can access the online reporting site 24-hours-a-day from anywhere with website access.”
