San Marcos CA– A DUI checkpoint is scheduled for an undisclosed location in San Marcos tonight, August 22, 2014. Another is set for Del Mar on Sunday August 31st.
Deputies will work with other law enforcement agencies during some of the DUI checkpoints. The Sheriff’s Department will also be conducting increased DUI patrols around the Del Mar Fairgrounds between now and September 1st.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 10,000 people are killed each year in crashes caused by drunk driving. “There’s no excuse for drunk driving in San Diego County,” said Sheriff Bill Gore. “There will be zero tolerance for anyone caught driving drunk, especially during the Labor Day Weekend.
Remember: DRIVE SOBER OR GET PULLED OVER!”
If you do drink, here are some sober ride options:
• Be My Designated Driver
• Metropolitan Transit System (MTS)
• North County Transit District (NCTD)
