Oceanside CA– MiraCosta College’s Child Development Department will offer a 3-unit Saturday class this fall— Music and Movement for Young Children (CHLD 160, #1287). The class meets for 8 weeks, August 23–October 11, 8 a.m. – 1:50 p.m. on the Oceanside Campus, located at 1 Barnard Drive.
This credit, CSU transferable class offers students the opportunity to create a music and movement program for young children. A wide variety of activities will be taught and students will learn how music and movement enhances a child’s overall development.
Teachers of young children will gain the skills and knowledge needed to use music and movement experiences in the early childhood classroom to inspire creative expression in the young child. Students explore methods and materials for music and creative movement, to design learning environments for music and movement activities, document children’s creative expression, and examine the teacher’s role in the creative process. The course is also appropriate for caregivers and parents.
Robin Sachs is the instructor. She is in her seventeenth year as an associate faculty member at the college.
