Oceanside CA– Today, September 23, 2014, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Oceanside Police Department Harbor Officers received word from the Life Guards there was a person floating in the water in the Oceanside Harbor. It appeared she had fallen out of her kayak and the kayak was overturned. As Life Guards swam to the woman, Harbor Officers responded via boat. As they approached, officers could see the person was wearing a life vest, but appeared to be unconscious.
While one of the officers steadied the boat, the other officer swam to the woman and brought her back to the boat.
Officers recognized her as a frequent guest of the Oceanside Harbor. She is 83 years old.
Oceanside Fire paramedics met the Harbor boat at the Fuel Dock to retrieve the woman. She was breathing, semi-conscious, but still unresponsive and was transported to Tri-City for care. She was taken to Tri City Medical Center.
