San Marcos CA– Early this morning, just after mid-night, San Marcos Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a commercial burglary in progress at the La Fiesta Market. The reporting party described three males who broke into the market carrying bags.
The suspects were seen running away from the market towards West Mission Road. Deputies quickly responded and established a perimeter. Deputies noticed a blood trail leading away from the store towards West Mission Road. With the aid of ASTREA (Sheriff’s Helicopter) and Sheriff’s Canine units, deputies followed the trail of blood towards the 400 block of Autumn Drive.
The perimeter was reestablished in the area and deputies continued their search for the suspects. About 2:00am, a Hispanic Male walked out of the complex carrying a bag. When deputies attempted to contact the subject, he fled towards Mission Road and Richmar Avenue where he was taken into custody without further incident.
The apprehended subject is an uncooperative juvenile male who refused to provide any information about himself. The bag contained merchandise from the burglarized market and was stained with what appeared to be fresh blood. However, the unidentified juvenile who was apprehended did not have any injuries. Deputies continued the search for the additional suspects with negative results. The investigation is on-going.
