Oceanside CA– Oceanside Firefighters quickly knocked down a vegetation fire at the Rosicrucian Fellowship complex, 2222 Mission Avenue. The blaze was visible from most of the east side of Oceanside due to its location at the top of Mission Ave. and the fact the fire was crowning in the pine trees at the site.
“We could see it as soon as we left the station” said Oceanside Battalion Chief, Peter Lawrence. “When we arrived flames were shooting above the pine trees.” said Lawrence pointing to the 50 foot tall trees on the slope. “We were fortunate there wasn’t any wind blowing when this thing started” added the Chief.

Despite the extremely steep terrain, dense fuel for the fire and darkness falling, the crews were able to knock down the fire shortly after arriving on scene. It took 14 firefighters with three engines, one Tender and one Medic Unit about 10 minutes to have the fire under control enough to begin releasing assets. The fire burned approximately 1/4 acre. No structures were threatened and no reports of injuries.
