Oceanside CA– Shortly before noon today, October 6, 2014, Oceanside Police and Fire Department personnel responded to reports of a shooting at the Iron Sights Shooting Range, 618 Airport Rd.
When police arrived, they found an adult white male, approximately 35 years old suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The man was still breathing and Oceanside Fire Department Paramedics transported him to the Oceanside Airport where he was flown by Reach Air Ambulance to the hospital.
Lieutenant Valencia Warner-Saadat with the Oceanside Police Department said the incident took place on the range inside the Iron Sights Indoor Shooting Range. There were several people practicing at the range at the time of the incident. “Nobody really knew what happened at the time because of the space between lanes” said the Lieutenant “It wasn’t until the person, in the lane next to the victim, saw him on the ground that there was any indication something happened.”
The mans identity or condition are unavailable at this time. Iron Sights remains closed.
