Vista CA— Late Thursday night, November 6, 2014, at 11:30pm, a Vista Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota pick-up truck after the driver ran a red light at Vale Terrace Drive and East Vista Way, in Vista.
The vehicle stopped in the parking lot at 960 East Vista Way. When the deputy contacted the driver, Israel Guadalupe Garcia, age 23, Garcia put the vehicle in reverse, rammed the deputy’s patrol car, and sped off.
The deputy pursued Garcia who drove erratically on East Vista Way, turned onto Palm Drive, lost control of his vehicle, and sideswiped a tree in front of 453 Alvarado Terrace. Other deputies arrived and Garcia was taken into custody.
He displayed signs and symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol and a records check revealed his driver’s license had been suspended so Garcia was arrested for multiple offenses and booked into Vista Detention Facility. Neither the deputy or Garcia was injured during the incident.
