Oceanside CA— The City of Oceanside is offering a course designed to provide qualified individuals with the proper certifications required for employment as a lifeguard. Upon successful course completion, students will receive American Red Cross certifications in:
- Lifeguard Training
- Emergency Medical Response
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer
- Automated External Defibrillation Essentials
- Oxygen Administration for the Professional Rescuer
Course Prerequisites:
Perspective participants must be at least 15 years of age by the course start date (January 6, 2015) and complete the pre-course skills test.
Skills test will consist of a 300 yard continuous swim using both front crawl and breaststroke, a deep-water brick retrieval in 1 min. 40 sec. and tread water for 2 minutes with hands in armpits.
Pre-course swim test must be completed prior to signing up.
Testing will take place at Brooks St. Swim Center at 10:15am on the following dates:
December 6th, December 13th, December 20th & January 3rd.
