San Diego CA— Detectives from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Homicide Detail are investigating the death of Vidal Webb, an inmate, who was being housed at the San Diego Central Jail for attempted murder and arson causing great bodily injury at a residence in Poway. Update: On Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at about 10:02 a.m., while housed at the San Diego Central Jail, Mr. Webb jumped from the second tier of his housing module to the dayroom floor.
Deputies and jail medical staff immediately responded and entered the housing module to render medical aid to Mr. Webb. A medical doctor, who was already in the facility conducting a medical clinic for other inmates, also responded. Despite the efforts of all of the staff, Mr. Webb succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 10:21 a.m.
A cause and manner of death will be determined and released by the Medical Examiner’s Office. There is no further information being released at this time. An update will be provided as soon as more information becomes available.
