“Each year the Human Rights Campaign rates municipalities on six criteria as it relates to LGBT community. The criteria are: 1. Non-Discrimination Laws. 2. Relationship Recognition. 3. Municipality as Employer. 4.Municipal Services. 5.Law Enforcement. 6. Relationships with the LGBT Community. The City scored 57 out of 100. At the request of Max Disposti, Executive Director of the NC-LGBTQ Resource Center, staff reviewed the City’s rating for 2014 and Mr. Disposti recommended that the City formally identify a LGBT Liaison form the City in General, and the Police and the Fire Department specifically”.
