Oceanside CA— The FBI, Oceanside Police Department, and Carlsbad Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify a serial bank robber nicknamed the Two-Wheel Bandit. The robber is believed to be responsible for two robberies: one in Carlsbad, California, on January 6, 2015, and another in Oceanside, California, on December 23, 2014.
On Tuesday, January 6, 2015, an unknown male robbed the U.S. Bank branch, located 2520 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, California, at approximately 2:30 p.m. The robber approached the victim teller, displayed a black handgun, and demanded all the money the teller had available. The robber also threatened the use of a bomb while holding a white device in one hand which made clicking noises. No injuries were reported.
After receiving a sum of money, the robber exited the bank and was seen riding away on a dark-colored beach cruiser-type bicycle. The robber was then observed approaching a sports utility vehicle (SUV), which appeared to be waiting for the robber, and the robber loaded the bicycle into the back. The small, white, SUV was driven by an unknown female driver. The SUV was a hatchback with black stripes on the side and no visible license plates.
On Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at approximately 4:15 p.m. a lone male robbed the U.S. Bank branch, located 4136 Oceanside Boulevard, Oceanside, California. The suspect approached the victim teller, threatened the use of a bomb and demanded money from the cash drawers. No injuries were reported.
After receiving a sum of money, the robber fled southbound across Oceanside Boulevard toward a rail station. The subject rode a BMX-style bicycle that was low to the ground and a metal gray color.
