San Marcos CA— On Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 10:56 am, San Marcos Traffic Deputies were dispatched to a report of a two car vehicle collision at the intersection of Via Vera Cruz and Grand Avenue in the City of San Marcos.
The investigation determined the driver of a Ford F150 pickup was driving northbound on Via Vera Cruz approaching the intersection of Grand Ave. The Ford F150 struck a stopped Chevrolet Silverado pickup which was in the left turn pocket of Via Vera Cruz facing north, injuring the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado.
Both drivers were transported to Palomar Medical Hospital by San Marcos Medic #1492. The Chevrolet Silverado’s driver was being treated for spinal fractures. The driver of the F150 suffered bruising to his knees and complaint of pain to his neck.
The driver of the Ford F150 was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and charged with felony DUI. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage.
This investigation by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is ongoing.
