San Diego County CA— The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department has activated a Search and Rescue call-out to look for Chris Sylvia, a 28-year-old hiker who did not rendezvous with a friend for a prearranged supply meet. Sylvia, described as an experienced hiker, left Anza Borrego enroute to Campo, on Thursday, February 12th.
He was to meet a friend in Lost Valley for fresh provisions on Tuesday, February 17th, however, he never arrived. Sylvia’s friend assumed he had continued on his hike without stopping. When Sylvia never arrived in Campo – his final destination – his friend became concerned and contacted the Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday.
Also, earlier that day, other hikers found gear – a sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and backpack – that appear to belong to Sylvia. His identification was also found at this site. These items were located approximately 13 miles off of Highway 79, and north of Warner Springs.
He is described as a 28 year-old White male adult, unshaven with a mustache and goatee
