Seven Arrested in Vista Probation Sweep

Vista CA— Seven people were arrested, on Saturday, for violations of terms of their post release conditions due to drug related offenses following a multi-agency post release offender operation in the city of Vista.
Deputies and Officers from Oceanside Police Department, Carlsbad Police Department, Escondido Police Department and the San Diego County Probation Department also completed 27 field interviews of post release offenders.
The compliance checks were held on February 7, 2015 from 7:00am-5:00pm. Officers and Deputies visited or attempted to visit 60 targeted post release offenders. Thirty compliance searches were conducted.
This operation was part of Regional Realignment Response Group. The goal is to track known post-release offenders and their associates to ensure that they are complying with their post-release conditions set by the court. Secondly, Officers and Deputies gather information to actual crimes and forward that information on to crime and intelligence analysts in order to help address crime issues in our neighborhoods.
Realignment went into effect in 2011 with the enactment of AB109. It was enacted in response to a federal court order compelling California to reduce overcrowding in its prisons. Realignment shifts responsibilities for non-violent criminals from the state to the local level by sending some offenders to county jails or post-release community supervision instead of prison.
