San Marcos CA— Saturday night, March 7, 2015 at approximately 7:26 PM, deputies were dispatched to an unknown injury collision of a motorcycle vs a vehicle, in the area of Melrose Drive and South Rancho Santa Fe Road, in the city of San Marcos.
A 23 year old male from Encinitas was driving a 2008 Kawasaki KLR650 and was traveling southbound on S. Rancho Santa Fe Rd. approaching the intersection of Melrose Dr. A 23 year old male from Carlsbad was driving a 2008 Mazda Tribute and was traveling in a northwesterly direction making a left turn from northbound South Rancho Santa Fe Rd. to westbound Melrose Dr. in front of the motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist collided with the right front quarter panel and right front passenger door of the Mazda, causing the motorcyclist to be ejected. The driver of the Kawasaki motorcycle sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
The San Marcos Fire Department transported the driver of the motorcycle to Palomar Medical Center where he was admitted and is being treated for his injuries. The investigation and cause of the collision is on-going and being conducted by the San Marcos Traffic Unit.
