Update 03/24/2015: The San Diego Sheriff’s Department has released a sketch of the suspect in the attempted abduction- see image below
Solana Beach CA— On Monday March 23, 2015 at about 3:26 p.m, a man walked into Skyline School, about 15 minutes after school dismissal and attempted to abduct a 7 year-old girl. The suspect is described as a white male, possibly in his 40’s, approximately 200lbs, facial stubble, light brown hair, wearing a red and white striped baseball jersey, white baseball pants, green baseball hat and carrying a green duffel bag.
The father of the child, both names we are withholding, shocked by the brazenness of the attempt, shared a letter with parents at the school and was kind enough to share it with OsideNews in the hopes of protecting others and catching the suspect. “We share these details with you so you understand how reckless and crazy this person is.” he wrote.
“A parent’s worst nightmare was averted yesterday in broad daylight at Skyline School as our daughter was the victim of a botched abduction.” writes the father “This was not an incident where a man hung out on the fringe of the Skyline campus and attempted to lure the first child he saw.” continued the father, “This man parked in the top Skyline parking lot, walked through the heart of the school, past the front office, and up to the main part of school only 15 minutes after the dismissal bell rang. He tried to wrap packing tape around her head multiple times around. He was also attempting to pick her up and carry her off of campus.”
The seven year-old reacted quickly, kicked and screamed alerting nearby staff at the school who foiled the abduction attempt and then chased after the suspect but were unable to apprehend him.
The father has some advice for parents; “Please have the “Stranger Danger” discussion with your kids and the importance of not complying. The “if you want to see your mommy again” was used in our case as he tried to lure her behind the garden and attempted to tape her up. Yell, scream, draw as much attention as you can. This is what saved our daughter.”
He continues “We need to catch this person so it doesn’t happen to anyone else. If an entire community and City are looking out for him, the chances are greater. “Never in our wildest dreams would we think this could happen to us. Please forward to as many people you can to help prevent it from happening to others.”
The San Diego County Sheriff’s department is looking for a silver Ford Flex with a black roof and again, the suspect as a white male, possibly in his 40’s, approximately 200lbs, facial stubble, light brown hair, wearing a red and white striped baseball jersey, white baseball pants, green baseball hat and carrying a green duffel bag.
Anyone with information about this case can call the Sheriff’s Department non-emergency line at (858) 565-5200 or contact detective Frank Feliccia at 760-966-3517.
