Oceanside CA— 2014 was a busy year for the Oceanside Fire Department as the agency’s response numbers increased in almost every category over the previous year. Like the Oceanside Police Department, which saw an increase of dispatched incidents of 6% in 2014, the fire department saw an increase in incidents for 2014 of 11.3%, (19,047 incidents) over the previous year.
Here are some numbers from the 2014 report: Emergency medical/rescue responses were up 14.7% with 14,936 incidents including 1,771 vehicle accidents, up 7.5% in 2014. The were 849 fire incidents compared to 779 in 2013 with a property loss of $3,925,363
The busiest time of day for the department was between 5:00pm and 6:00pm with 2,554 calls and the fewest amount between 4:00 and 5:00am at 638.
Station 7, located 3350 Mission Rd, had 7,584 unit responses in 2014 followed by Station 1, 714 Pier View Way with 7,055. A station by station breakdown can be seen below.

The Oceanside Fire Department provided 4,019 units for mutual aid to Joint Powers Authority (JPA) Agencies including, but not limited to Carlsbad and Vista, an increase of 25% over 2013. Oceanside received 4,772 units from JPA agencies, an increase of 36 percent.
Mutual aid with Carlsbad had ambulances from Oceanside responding to Carlsbad 1,061 times and Carlsbad responding to Oceanside 1,520 times. Vista Ambulances responded for mutual to Oceanside 1,593 times while Oceanside responded to Vista 1,221 times in 2014.
The Oceanside Fire Department Lifeguard unit responded with OFD 289 times and had 45 mutual aid calls. Lifeguards provided 2,871 water rescues last year with 26 boat rescues, 33 sea life strandings and found 503 children. Beach attendance for Oceanside was reported at 4,684,700 with water attendance at 1,740,700.
