Oceanside CA— On March 30, 2015 at 10:30 p.m. Derrick Anders called and requested medical assistance. He told Oceanside Police Dispatchers he was at San Diego Street and Bush Street. Oceanside Fire personnel responded. Oceanside Police officers responded to assist.
Anders was not in need of medical attention, but wanted a ride to Tri City Medical Center (TCMC) in order to pick up some medication.
Anders was given directions to TCMC and sent on his way. When he realized he was not going to get a ride, he dropped his pants, exposed his genitals in front of fire personnel, police officers, and nearby citizens. He told them, “You can kiss my ass!”, as he slapped his buttocks.
Officers told him he was under arrest for indecent exposure. As one of the officers began to handcuff Anders, Anders swung and punched another officer in the head. After a brief struggle, he was handcuffed and arrested for felony assault on a peace officer. Anders is currently transient and claims San Diego as his home.
The officer was evaluated on scene by paramedics and returned to work.
