UPDATE: The decedent has been identified as Maria Luisa Nava Jimenez, a 74 year old single Hispanic female who resided with family in Vista.
Vista CA— Tuesday night, March 17, 2015 at about 7:30, Deputies from the Vista Sheriff’s Station responded to a call of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on North Santa Fe Avenue near the intersection of East California in the City of Vista.
It was reported the pedestrian was severely injured. When deputies arrived on scene, she was found pulseless and apneic. The first deputy on scene initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Paramedics arrived shortly thereafter and continued with advanced cardiac life support. Despite aggressive resuscitation efforts, she failed to respond and death was pronounced.
The driver remained at the scene. Investigators from the Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction team responded and will be handling the investigation.
At this time the cause of the collision is still under investigation.
