Oceanside CA— More Than Sport and Flo Cycling collaborated with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside for the IRONMAN 70.3 held on Saturday March 28th in Oceanside. 56 new youth bicycles of various sizes were donated to represent the 56 miles of the bicycle portion of the IRONMAN.
On Thursday, March 26th professional athletes from all over the United States who participated in the IRONMAN 70.3 as well as mechanics from Performance Bicycle of Oceanside, came to the Boys & Girls Club teen center to graciously give their time to build the bicycles for the giveaway event.
On Sunday, March 29th from 1pm-3pm IRONMAN athletes, More Than Sports and Flo Cycling sponsored the giveaway event.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside selected youth to receive bicycles from each of their 9 sites throughout Oceanside and Vista. IRONMAN athletes distributed a brand new bicycle and helmet to each child who attended.
Brent McMahon, fresh off his fourth place finish at the Accenture IRONMAN 70.3 California in Oceanside, the day before, was helping out at the event. “I remember what it was like to have bikes, growing up. This is a cool initiative. Who knows, maybe this will spark a new triathlete.” said Brent

More Than Sport provides opportunities to organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs because of the mental and physical health benefits that bicycling provides to individuals of all ages. For example, “Adolescents who participate in bicycling, in-line skating, or skateboarding more than four times a week are 48% less likely to be overweight as adults.” (peopleforbikes.org) Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside provides healthy options for Club members and thanks to More Than Sport and Flo Cycling several youth will enjoy riding a new bicycle.
