EPD Looking for Truck Driver Possibly Involved in Fatal Collision-UPDATED

UPDATE: Escondido Traffic Investigators searched near-by businesses frequented by large tractor trailers and located the driver of the 3rd party. Preliminary investigation indicates the unidentified male motorcyclist failed to stop for traffic slowing for the light at the intersection of Rose St. and El Norte Parkway and collided with a pickup truck. The motorcyclist was thrown to the ground. While on the ground, the victim was rolled over by the rear wheel of the trailer of a large semi. The driver, unaware he was involved drove away from the scene. As the investigation progressed, investigators found evidence linking the found truck to the collision scene. Further investigation revealed the driver was not aware he was involved. Charges will not be filed in this case.
Escondido CA— Escondido Police and Fire Departments were dispatched at 7:18am to the area of 1600 E. El Norte Parkway for a vehicle vs. motorcycle collision. Officers arrived on scene and learned a motorcyclist rear-ended a pickup truck.
Preliminary investigation indicates the unidentified male motorcyclist failed to stop for traffic slowing for the light at the intersection of Rose St. and El Norte Parkway and collided with a pickup truck. The motorcyclist was thrown to the ground.
According to witnesses a long nose, white, semi-truck pulling an aluminum 53’ trailer may have run over the motorcyclist once he was on the ground. Investigators would like to speak with the driver of the semi-truck.
The motorcyclist sustained injuries and died at the scene. He remains unidentified and updated information regarding his identity will be released by the San Diego County Medical Examiner. There were no passengers on the motorcycle. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured. Neither alcohol nor distracted driving are believed to be factors in the fatal collision.
