Vista CA— Shortly after midnight, April 11, 2015, Deputies from the Vista patrol station responded to a report of a serious injury traffic collision near Taylor Street and East Vista Way.
The collision involved a 26 year-old male, identified on Monday as Sean Kevin Seward of Carlsbad, was driving a Toyota Tundra traveling eastbound on Taylor Street approaching the East Vista Way intersection. At the same time, a Honda CRV being driven by a 60 year old female was approaching the intersection, southbound on East Vista Way. The Honda entered the intersection with the right of way and struck the Toyota on the front left side of the truck.
The Toyota Tundra overturned coming to rest on its roof on the sidewalk of the southeast corner of the intersection. The Honda continued to travel straight and eventually came to rest off of the roadway.
When the Toyota rolled over, Mr. Seward, who was not wearing a seat-belt, was partially ejected and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The passenger in the Toyota was able to extricate himself from the vehicle. The sober driver and passenger of the Honda were transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment for undisclosed injuries. The cause of the collision is still being investigated and alcohol may have been a factor in the collision.
