Third student from OHS Since 2011

Oceanside CA— One of only 1,000 seniors nationwide, Oceanside High student Saul Sandoval has been selected as a Gates Millennium Scholar for 2015. He is the third winner from OHS. Will Tate was selected in 2013, and Janeth Lopez was awarded the prestigious honor in 2011.
Named a Simon Scholar in 2013, Saul is a member of the OHS National Honor Society and plays on the Pirates’ varsity baseball squad. With a 3.8 grade point average, he plans to study medicine and become a plastic surgeon.
“His accolades inspire his peers. But it’s his concern for others and unfaltering determination that makes him one of the most memorable students to walk on our campus,” said Stephanie Farquhar, OHS AVID Coordinator.
Saul has not yet decided which college he will attend this fall.
