Encinitas CA— Sunday June 7th, 2015 about 9:19pm San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputy Miskulin attempted to complete a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Steven Richard Leacock.
Leacock failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of 2nd and K Street, as well as, Highway 101 and K Street, in Encinitas.
Leacock refused to stop the vehicle for overhead emergency lights and siren. Leacock did yield his vehicle momentarily at Chesterfield Drive and S. Coast Highway 101, but drove off again at a high rate of speed.
Leacock then drove onto the I-5 freeway northbound in the southbound lanes of traffic and into oncoming traffic on the freeway.
Deputies terminated the pursuit and saw Leacock’s vehicle exit the freeway and drive into an apartment complex at 700 S. Nardo Ave, in Solana Beach. Leacock then fled from the vehicle on foot.
A perimeter was quickly established and Leacock was located a detained. Leacock was arrested for evading a Peace Officer with Wanton Disregard for Public Safety and booked into the Vista
