San Diego County CA- This morning July 17, 2015 at approximately 10:30, two men were traveling westbound on SR 76 just west of Lazy H Drive in a 2014 box truck.
The driver of the truck stated he observed a vehicle driving the wrong way coming directly for his vehicle. He was unable to avoid the collision and both vehicles collided head-on.
The driver of the wrong way vehicle, a 24 year-old male from Escondido was driving a 2002 Mazda Miata at an unknown rate of speed with his 27 year-old male passenger from Carlsbad. Both were killed instantly.
The two from the box truck were transported to Palomar Hospital with minor injuries.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the incident. Names of the two killed are being withheld. The accident is currently under investigation.
