Oceanside CA— On September 21, 2014 at 1:25 a.m. the Oceanside Police Department began receiving phone calls of a collision and a person down in the 3900 block of North River Road. Officers arrived and found a hit and run collision had occurred. The suspect fled the scene. A bicyclist, Philip White, died at the scene. (original story here)
Evidence from the scene led investigators to believe the suspect vehicle was a green Kia Sol. As news of the collision spread through the media, personnel at Camp Pendleton noticed damage to a green Kia Sol owned by Christopher Noah. Noah also told personnel he had been involved in a collision. Noah is on active duty with the United States Navy.
Noah was encouraged by personnel at Camp Pendleton to talk to the police about the collision. Noah contacted the Oceanside Police Department and admitted to being the driver of the vehicle. However, he contended he did not know he had hit anyone. Physical evidence at the scene contradicted his statement. A felony arrest warrant was issued July 30, 2015 for Noah for one count of felony hit and run and one count of vehicular manslaughter.
On August 11, 2015 officers of the Oceanside Police Department’s coordinated with NCIS agents and the base magistrate. Noah was released to the officers and arrested. He was later transported to the Vista Detention Facility.

My brother, Philip White, was the victim of a hit-and-run accident on Sunday, 9/21 in Oceanside. He was riding a bike and killed by a driver who left the scene.
My family is devastated by our loss. We loved our Philip so very much and are shocked by his death.
The family set up a fundraising webpage http://www.gofundme.com/philipwhite to help them meet the unexpected costs associated with Philip’s death. The page, which is still active, raised more than $5,600.00.
