Oceanside CA— From Longboard surfing or yacht racing to the International Film Festival, a full weekend kicks off tonight with two big events.

Friday

The Oceanside First Friday ArtWalk celebrates its first anniversary this month as they bring back some of their favorite artists and musicians from the 2014 -2015 season. Organizers suggest you begin at MainStreet Oceanside, 701 Mission Ave. 6:00pm-9:00pm Tour maps are available at all tour stop locations.
Concert in the Park The Free Friday Concert in the Park series concludes tonight as The JourneyMan Band takes the stage at Mance Buchanon Park, 425 College Blvd.

Longboard Surf— 15TH Annual Guy Takayama Pro Noseriding and Pro Open Events and the 31st annual Club Contest event which features coalition surf teams from all over California. The event will include a beach festival in the amphitheater with vendors selling food and merchandise. There will also be live music and a beer garden in the bandshell all weekend long. The event is free to spectators and shoppers. Sponsored by The Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club (OLSC).

Downtown Oceanside History Walk— The Oceanside Historical Society hosts Downtown History Walks on the second Saturday of each month beginning at 9:00am during the summer (April-September).
Your tour guide will be a member of the Oceanside Historical Society, eager to show you around beautiful downtown Oceanside. The history walk will begin at the Civic Center Plaza located on the corner of Coast Highway and Pier View Way. The 2-hour walking tour will show participants the historical significance of local homes, churches & banks, three Irving J. Gill buildings, the famed “Top Gun” house, the Oceanside Pier, bandshell and variety of other sites. Along your walk look for the “O.U. Miracle” on the sidewalks and curbs, there’s a great story behind them, so ask your tour guide. Walks are free (donations accepted) and open to everyone and are pleasantly paced so folks of all ages can participate. The tour takes about 2 hours.
The Oceanside Yacht Club (OYC) is hosting the 13th annual Charity Regatta to benefit The Elizabeth Hospice August 8 and 9 at OYC located 1950 Harbor Drive North, Oceanside. Entry Fee to race in the two-day Regatta is $50 and daily Post-Race Parties are open to the public free of charge beginning at 3:00 pm Saturday and 2:00 pm Sunday.
Comedy Night ArtBeat on Main Street, in Vista, holds Comedy Nite every second Saturday featuring the best stand up comics from LA and San Diego. Tickets are $18.00 ahead of time, $22.00 at the door. Lounge opens at 4:00, seating starts at 7:00pm. You can purchase tickets [Here]

Oceanside International Film Festival The film festival rolls out the red carpet at 2:00pm as they begin eight days of events from August 9th through 16th. The 2015 installment of Oceanside International Film Festival will publicly screen a mixture of unique and independent films from many countries, states, and local filmmakers. Among this year’s 75 Official Selections are short and full-length films from Canada, Australia, Colombia, Turkey, China, Israel, Spain, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Norway, Portugal, etc. Local films are represented as well. Concert in the Park Series The Free Summer Concert Series continues at Heritage Park on Sunday with two hours of Open Mic, 4:00pm-6:00pm.
Summer Jazz Concert Spend an evening enjoying the timeless sounds of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie and more, performed by the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame Orchestra at the San Diego Botanic Garden from 5-8 pm.
The Band brings authentic arrangements of these jazz greats to life with a full 17-piece orchestra and two talented vocalists. Swing along with hits like “In The Mood,” “Ain’t Misbehavin,” the “Bugle Call Rag,” and “All of Me.”
Cost: Adults: SDBG Members $15; Non-members $25
