Vista CA— Sunday night, September 6, 2015, at 10:50 PM, a San Diego Sheriff Deputy initiated a traffic stop for a moving violation in the City of Vista.
The driver of the vehicle fled and a traffic pursuit was initiated. The pursuit lasted approximately one minute and came to an end at a business park in the area of Sycamore Avenue and Business Park Drive in the City of Vista. The driver fled on foot and was last seen running into a large construction yard.
Responding deputies set a perimeter and requested the assistance from Sheriff’s K-9 units along with ASTREA. During the search, deputies learned the suspect’s vehicle was connected to a felony grand theft case. After searching for approximately one hour, Sheriff’s K-9 units located the suspect hiding in a drainage ditch.
The suspect, Francisco Moedano, age 31, was taken into custody. Moedano is a documented gang member and has a lengthy criminal history. Moedano currently has a felony warrant for grand theft and faces new charges on tonight’s incident for felony evading.
Moedano will be booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
