30 free one year memberships available

Oceanside CA— The City of Oceanside received a grant in 2012 from SANDAG to establish a bike parking facility next to the NCTD terminal in Oceanside. The grant provided $100,000 to construct a secured bike parking structure to hold 26 bikes which is now ready for commuters to use.

“The Oceanside NCTD terminal is unique in that it serves three rail transportation lines; the Metro, the Coaster and the Sprinter. Rail customers can use the facility to park their bike when taking services out of Oceanside or have their bike available when they arrive.” said Howard LaGrange, City of Oceanside Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator.

The parking facility, called a BikeStation, provides security and protection from the elements with inside storage under video surveillance.
Entry is gained through a fob that electrically opens the door and activates a video camera that records every entry and exit. A bike repair stand with specific bike tools and a tire pump are located in the rear of the facility.
Included in the grant funding are 30 free one year memberships. Requests for the free memberships should be addressed to: Howard LaGrange, City of Oceanside Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator, 300 North Coast Hwy Oceanside, CA 92054.
