Oceanside CA— Early this morning, September 22 2015, at approximately 02:15am, Oceanside units were dispatched for a rescue traffic collision at N. Santa Fe Ave and Mesa Ave in Oceanside California.
Oceanside Truck company 2176 arrived within 2 minutes after being dispatched and found a single vehicle rolled over, up the embankment on the west side of N. Santa Fe Ave. The vehicle struck a tree landing upside down on the roof causing severe damage to the passenger compartment of the car, entrapping the driver.
One adult male patient, with serious injuries was found upside down trapped in the damaged car. Initial care and vehicle stabilization was performed by 2176. Additional crews arrived to support the complicated extrication and began to provide basic life support measures.
Rescue extrication equipment was used by 2176, 2115 and 2118, they coordinated the successful removal of the victim who was in critical condition. Approximately 40 minutes after dispatch the patient was extricated, treated for his injuries and transported to the Oceanside fire station 5 landing zone where REACH AIR took over patient care. The patient was transported via air ambulance to Scripps La Jolla Trauma Center.
At approximately the same time the victim was being removed from the vehicle, an additional rescue traffic collision response was received through North Comm dispatch. Clearing the incident at N. Santa Fe Rd, Battalion 2104 and responding units arrived to the 4000 block of Olive Dr, Oceanside CA.
A single vehicle rollover was found in the front yard of the residence at 4043 Olive Dr. Oceanside, CA. The first unit arrived approximately six minutes after dispatch. The incident involved a vehicle that left the road way, sheering off a fire hydrant, then hitting parked cars in the driveway and finally landing upside down against the residence.
The displaced fire hydrant caused thousands of gallons a minute of water to release approximately 20-30 feet in the air over the incident. The victim, a young adult male, was found lying outside the vehicle where medical treatment was performed for his injuries. The Oceanside water department arrived approximately 10 minutes after dispatch to shut down the domestic water supply and isolate the water loss immediately.
Additional crews were used to support the transportation of the victim to Tri-City Medical center where Mercy Air took over patient care. The patient was also transported via air ambulance to Scripps La Jolla Trauma center for treatment of his injuries. Domestic water service would be restored by approximately 06:00am to the residences.
