Construction Worker Crushed In Industrial Accident

Oceanside CA— This morning, October 13, 2015 at approximately 9:03 a.m. the Oceanside Police department Communications Center began receiving 9-1-1 calls regarding an industrial accident at 1402 Avenida del Oro. Oceanside Fire and Oceanside Police personnel responded. The investigation revealed the following.
The area is a large vacant area currently under construction to be used in the future as the FedEx distribution center. While workers were working in the northeast corner of the site, a large concrete slab called a “head wall” fell on one of the workers and crushed him.

Co-workers immediately used a nearby crane to remove the slab and began life-saving measures. Oceanside Fire personnel arrived and took over the life-saving measures, but the person was declared dead at the scene.

The victim was described as a white male in his mid-fifties. His name is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
Co-workers were offered assistance from the Trauma Intervention Program.
