Fallbrook CA— On Saturday, October 24, 2015 at approximately 4:55 pm a 45 year-old male from Quail Valley, California, was driving his 1992 Nissan southbound on Old Hwy 395 north of Rainbow Glen at an unknown speed. The driver allowed his vehicle to cross over the double yellow line and collided head on into a 2005 Volvo Station Wagon driven northbound by an adult male from Fallbrook.
As a result of the collision the passenger in the Volvo (the drivers wife) a 68 year-old female was pronounced dead on scene. The driver was taken to Palomar hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
The driver of the Nissan was airlifted to Palomar Hospital and suffered major injuries. At this time it is suspected that he was under the influence of alcohol.
The collision remains under investigation.
