San Marcos CA— This morning, October 1, 2015 at approximately 7:24, deputies were dispatched to the intersection of W. Mission Road and Comet Circle in the city of San Marcos reference a traffic collision.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a white 1995 Honda Civic driven by a 17-year-old male was traveling eastbound on W. Mission Road. The white Honda Civic entered the intersection at Comet Circle and struck two male juveniles (ages 12 and 13) walking in the crosswalk.
The 17-year-old driver pulled over and stayed at the scene. The 13-year-old sustained serious facial injuries and was air lifted to Rady’s Children Hospital in San Diego. The 12-year-old was transported by paramedics to Palomar Hospital for minor leg injuries.
It does not appear alcohol or drugs were a factor in the traffic collision.
The collision investigation is being conducted by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, San Marcos Traffic Unit. Anyone with information about this case can call the Sheriff’s Department non-emergency line at (858)565-5200.
