UPDATE: The Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the victim as 14-year-old San Marcos resident, Brandon Gonzalez. The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The manner of death has been ruled a homicide.
San Marcos CA— Detectives are investigating the death of an unidentified male, who was discovered lying on the sidewalk in the 3500 block of De Leone Road in the city of San Marcos. On November 20th, 2015 at about 10:51 p.m., deputies from the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of multiple gunshots heard near the intersection of De Leone Road and Hollencrest Road.
When they arrived to investigate, they found an unidentified male lying on the sidewalk in the 3500 block of De Leone Road, unconscious and suffering from traumatic injuries. Deputies performed CPR on the victim until he was transported to a local hospital by paramedics.
Unfortunately the victim did not survive his wounds and later died at the hospital.
Due to the circumstances surrounding the incident, the Sheriff’s Homicide Detail responded and is handling the investigation. A cause and manner of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office as well as the positive identification of the victim.
