Carlsbad CA— On Monday afternoon, November 23, at 5:19 pm the Carlsbad Police Department and Carlsbad Fire Department received a report of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a motor vehicle near the intersection of Jefferson Street and Marron Road. The Carlsbad Fire Department located the traffic collision on the Jefferson Street bridge over Interstate 5.
A 67-year-old white male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The male pedestrian was crossing the street from the east curb line of Jefferson Street towards the west curb line of Jefferson Street when he was struck by a pick-up truck traveling south bound on Jefferson Street.
The pick-up truck was driven by a 51-year-old male from Carlsbad. The body of the pedestrian was released to the medical examiner. The identity of the pedestrian is not being released until next of kin can be notified.
The Carlsbad Police Department’s Traffic Division was called out and the investigation is ongoing. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision.
