Carlsbad CA—The City of Carlsbad will host a free panel discussion on how better access to data can improve government decision-making and efficiency while engaging the public and spurring private enterprise. Tuesday, December 8, 1 – 3 p.m. in the Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium, 1775 Dove Lane, Carlsbad, CA 92011
“Maximizing the potential of opening up government data troves will require a major culture shift in government and a leap of faith from skeptical members of the public,” said Swapnil Jadhav, manager of business intelligence and analytics for the City of Carlsbad. “But, the disruption has already begun to occur, leaving cities with two choices: lead or follow. With the potential of data already gaining momentum, there is no getting out of the way.”
Speakers will include:

Maksim Pecherskiy, chief data officer, City of San Diego

Big Data and Next Generation Tech Solutions for Engaging Your Community

Gary Eaton, chief innovation officer, San Diego County Water Authority

Data-Driven Decision Making to Improve Organizational Effectiveness

Tom Mullen, chief data officer, County of Riverside

Government Accountability, Public Trust and Opportunities for Collaboration

Andre’ Skupin, founder and co-director, San Diego State University Center for Information Convergence & Strategy
