Carlsbad CA— On December 11, the City of Carlsbad Police Department responded to a report of a robbery which had just occurred at Henderson’s Jewelry, located in the 300 block of Carlsbad Village Drive. The victim reported that a black male adult had robbed him of approximately $20,000.00 worth of diamond jewelry. No weapon was used during the robbery. During the course of the robbery, the suspect dropped his cell phone and ran from the store with the stolen diamonds.
Patrol officers responded and searched the surrounding area for the suspect with negative result. Detectives were called to assist in the investigation. The owner of the cell phone was identified and a photo line-up was conducted. The victim positively identified the suspect.
Detectives went to an apartment complex located in the Rancho Santa Margarita community of Orange County at 11:30 PM. During a search of the suspect’s residence, he was found hiding beneath a bed. He was arrested without incident. A search of his residence resulted in the seizure of clothing he had worn during the robbery. The diamonds were not located.
The suspect, identified as 37 year-old Clyde Lydelle Anderson, was booked into the Vista Jail on one count of each of the following: robbery, commercial burglary, and grand theft from a person.
