UPDATE: The San Diego County Medical Examiners office has identified the woman as Gwen DeValliere, a 50 year old married White female who resided alone in an apartment in Carlsbad.
Carlsbad CA— On December 9 at 9:06 a.m., the City of Carlsbad Police Department received a third-party call about a body floating in the Agua Hedionda Lagoon. The lagoon is located in the 4600 block of Park Drive between Bruce Road and Cove Drive.
The caller stated a paddle boarder reported seeing a body floating in the lagoon.
Officers responded to the lagoon and requested the assistance of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department helicopter, ASTREA, to help with the search.
Personnel from the City of Carlsbad Fire Department responded to provide water assistance with the search.
At 9:41 a.m., the search team found a deceased female adult in the lagoon.
The cause of death is undetermined.
The body will be released to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office for identification, notifications and to determine cause of death.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
