San Diego County CA— At 3:14pm, the National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for northwestern San Diego County effective until 6:15 this afternoon, January 5, 2016.
Some locations that will likely experience flooding include Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista, Encinitas, Poway, Ramona, Del Mar, Valley Center, University City and Fallbrook.
At 3:13 pm, Doppler radar indicated a large area of heavy rain across northern San Diego county. Flash flooding will likely begin shortly. Radar estimates 0.50 to 1.00 inch per hour rainfall rates. This includes the high threat for debris flow within the cocos fire scar and within urban and dry creek drainages.
Heavy rainfall will impact creeks which drain through Valley Center and the foothills of Palomar mountain.
