Carlsbad CA— This morning, February 1, 2016 at 6:18 a.m., the City of Carlsbad Police Department received a call about a traffic collision that occurred in the northbound lanes of El Camino Real just north of Marron Road.
It was reported to the Police Department that a 54-year-old male driving a Chevy Colorado struck an 85-year-old male pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian was not in the crosswalk at the time of the collision.
At 6:29 a.m., the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Medical Examiner responded to the scene and will release the pedestrian’s identity once family members are notified.
Neither drugs nor alcohol are considered to play a role in the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
Northbound El Camino Real was closed at Marron Road due to the investigation and clean-up.
