San Clemente CA— The body of a male found on February 4, 2016 near San Clemente has been identified as 59-year-old Robert Bretz. The Medical Examiner’s Office has concluded their autopsy in this case. The cause of death was from blunt force trauma and the manner of death has been ruled a homicide.
At approximately 12:56 p.m. on the 4th, deputies from the San Diego Sheriff’s Department North Coastal Station received a call to respond to the intersection of Cristianitos Road and S. El Camino Real near San Clemente, to investigate a report of a possibly deceased male at a nearby homeless encampment. When deputies arrived they located the encampment in a field near the intersection. At the encampment, they discovered the victim who had obvious signs of trauma to his upper body.
Detectives from the San Diego Sheriff’s Department Homicide Detail and North Coastal Station are continuing their investigation.
