Nonprofit Organizations to Offer Free Services to Lower-Income Taxpayers
Oceanside CA— Free tax preparation services will be available to lower-income Oceanside residents on Saturday, February 27, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Civic Center Library, located, 330 North Coast Highway in Oceanside.
Taxpayers will have the opportunity to prepare and file their own taxes, with the help of volunteers, using TurboTax® Freedom Edition software, which helps people identify and claim all of the tax credits and deductions they deserve. Taxpayers are eligible to prepare and file their taxes for free at this event if they had an adjusted gross income (AGI) of $31,000 or less in 2015.
This event will promote the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and ensure EITC-eligible families and individuals claim the important tax credit. Currently, there is an estimated 600,000 eligible Californians. Based on income and family size, EITC could boost a tax refund by up to $6,242. Individuals can learn if they are EITC-eligible, by using the EITC Calculator at www.taxprephelp.org.
The event is part of a statewide tour sponsored by the Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA) and the Intuit Financial Freedom Foundation. Thanks to committed Intuit employee volunteers, this event is expected to serve more than 100 people.
While walk-ins are welcome, interested taxpayers are encouraged to call 1-866-577-1231 to make an appointment.
