Oceanside CA— On February 23, at approximately 4:30 PM, Oceanside Police Officers responded to a report of a suspect stealing items from an open garage in the 3500 block of Paseo De Los Americanos. The suspect was gone by the time officers arrived on scene but a description of the suspect was broadcast.
Later that same night, at 9:40 PM, two officers located a subject at the shopping center in the 2600 block of Vista Way who matched the description of the suspect in the garage burglary. Officers attempted to talk to the subject but he fled on foot through the complex towards the freeway. Officers were able to determine the suspect’s identity (Adam Rogers) and learned he was an armed and dangerous fugitive with two active felony warrants, one of which was for weapons possession.
Citizens witnessed Rogers run across the freeway and alerted the pursuing officers. Several minutes later, OPD Dispatch received another call from a business on the south side of the freeway reporting that someone matching Rogers’ description was hiding on their property.
Rogers fled the business towards a nearby wooded area before officers arrived. A San Diego Sheriff’s helicopter (ASTREA) responded along with K-9 units from Oceanside and Carlsbad Police. The K-9 units conducted a track of Rogers and with assistance from ASTREA located him hiding near the riverbed in thick bushes. Although Rogers was located using K-9’s, the dogs did not bite Rogers and he was taken into custody without the use of force.
Rogers was booked into Vista Detention Facility for his warrants and burglary. The incident was an excellent example of team work and communications between multiple law enforcement agencies and citizens to apprehend a dangerous criminal.
Adam Rogers DOB 4-18-1989 was arrested for:
- Two felony warrants
- PC 459 Burglary
