Oceanside CA— In a statement released on Monday, California Assemblyman Rocky Chavez said he was closing his campaign for the United States Senate seat being vacated by Barbara Boxer.
Chavez, a former Oceanside City Council member and a retired Marine Corps colonel announced his bid for the seat on March 5, 2015. “I would like to thank my family and friends who have been very supportive of my effort over the past 10 months.” said in his statement, “I believe that I can best serve my state and community in 2016 by running for my current seat as the Assembly-member of the 76th Assembly District.”
After Chavez announced his bid for the Senate, Oceanside City Council-member Jerry Kern began his campaign for the 76th Assembly district citing the departure of Rock Chavez as part of his decision to run for the Assembly.
