UPDATED: According to the Medical Examiner the child who died in last nights collision was 11 and not 15 as earlier reported. The decedent was an 11-year-old Caucasian male who resided with his family in a home in San Bernardino County. His date of birth is listed as 02/20/2005
San Diego County CA— On February 21st 2016 at approximately 9:30 pm an 18-year-old male from Chino was driving his 2013 Dodge Challenger northbound on I-15 near Gopher Canyon Rd in the #2 lane at an unknown speed.
For reasons still under investigation he collided into the rear of a 2000 Chevy Trailblazer driven by a 27-year-old male from Crestline. After the collision the Trailblazer veered to the center
divide and rolled over several times. A 11-year-old male passenger was ejected and was pronounced dead on scene.
Also in the Trailblazer were a 33-year-old female, an 11-year-old male and a 13-year-old female. The children suffered minor to moderate injuries and were transported to Children’s Hospital accompanied by the 27-year-old driver.
The driver of the Dodge Challenger and the 33-year-old female passenger in the Trailblazer were transported to Palomar Hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision and it remains under investigation.
