San Diego County CA— The National Weather Service in San Diego has cancelled the High Wind warning but a High Wind Advisory remains in effect for the county.
Blown over fences and downed power lines kept SDG&E and emergency crews busy Sunday and early Monday morning. The Oceanside Fire Department responded to more than a dozen reports of wires down, several reports of pole fires and 10 trees down as wind gusts of up to 60 mph were reported on Sunday.
A low pressure system over the southwest states will continue to move eastward today. It will bring strong gusty northwest winds into this morning, slowly decreasing during the afternoon with west to northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph, gusts to 45 mph and isolated gusts to 55 mph. Winds are forecast to diminish as the day continues with wind speeds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts to 40 mph in the afternoon.
The winds will be strongest winds near the coast and will make driving difficult, especially for motorists with high-profile vehicles. People are urged to watch for downed trees, tree limbs, palm fronds, power lines and other debris.
