Award Received for Valentine’s Week Events

Oceanside CA— The City of Oceanside Parks and Recreation Division is happy to announce that “Oceanside Valentine’s Week Event” received an award from the California Parks and Recreation Society (District 12) for newest most innovative program this past year.
Oceanside Valentine’s Week was the brain-child of Mr. Jim Curl from Event Media. Many organizations in Oceanside joined together to provide ten days of Valentine’s Day themed activities, including inflating a twenty-five foot tall red heart that was displayed at all of the events.
MainStreet Oceanside, Visit Oceanside and the Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Mission San Luis Rey, Military Monday Weddings, theater productions, Art Walk, Farmers’ Market, and the Sunset Market all participated. There was also a 5K run/walk and bike ride on the final day.
During this time, it has been recorded that hotels/restaurants increased their business by 10% over last year’s revenue during this same time period. Congratulations to all that were involved in this collaborative effort.
