Carlsbad CA— Early this morning, March 17, at 1:20 a.m., officers from the Carlsbad Police Department along with the Carlsbad Fire Department responded to a call of a structure fire in the 600 block of Chinquapin Ave. The reporting party stated that an abandoned house was on fire. Officers arrived at 1:23 a.m. and found the house was fully engulfed.
Officers immediately began evacuating nearby houses. Carlsbad Fire Department arrived and were able to extinguish the fire. No other homes were damaged. A search of the residence revealed that there was no one inside and there were no injuries.
The displaced residents at the adjacent houses were able to return after approximately 30 minutes. Carlsbad Fire Department investigators were called to the scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
