Vista CA— Late last night, Thursday May 12, 2016, at approximately 11:00pm, an on-duty San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputy from the Vista Patrol Station came upon a two vehicle head-on collision on W. Vista Way at Brass Lane in the city of Vista.
The drivers of both vehicles were trapped inside. Vista Fire Paramedics responded and used equipment to cut both drivers from their respective vehicles. A preliminary investigation determined a silver Mitsubishi Eclipse was traveling eastbound on W. Vista Way. The Mitsubishi crossed the double yellow center line and collided with a silver Toyota Camry which was traveling westbound on W. Vista Way.
The twenty-year-old female driver of the Mitsubishi suffered a broken tibia and fibula. The fifty-two-year-old female driver of the Toyota suffered a broken hip.
Both drivers were taken to Palomar Hospital in Escondido. They were treated as trauma patients and admitted to the hospital for their injuries.
Alcohol was a factor in the collision and several witnesses were interviewed at the scene. Anyone who witnessed the collision, but did not provide a statement, is urged to contact Deputy Guerrero at 760-510-5048.
